Safety first: outpatient IV hydration is not appropriate for every patient. If you have severe symptoms or signs of significant dehydration, such as fainting, confusion, very little or no urine, or being unable to keep any fluids down, you may need urgent medical evaluation. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
