MEET YOUR MIDWIFE!
Ashley, CNM, C-EFM
I’m Ashley, a Certified Nurse-Midwife and the founder of Lakeland Birth & Gynecology. I started this practice because I believe women deserve healthcare that is both truly evidence-based and genuinely kind. Those two things were never supposed to be a trade-off.
My background spans emergency and trauma nursing, women’s health, obstetric ultrasound, and full-scope midwifery care. I’ve cared for women through pregnancy, labor and birth, postpartum, contraception, gynecologic care, and everything in between. I’m also certified in Electronic Fetal Monitoring and limited obstetric ultrasound, with additional training in neonatal resuscitation and obstetric emergencies.
I’m also a mom of eight kiddos, ranging from almost one to nearly seventeen. I married my best friend, who I met our freshman year of high school, and when I’m not working, you can usually find me running kids to sports or church—or sneaking away with my family to camp at Fort De Soto. Unless, of course, I’m at a birth!
My own journey has included hospital births, two cesareans, VBAC, VBA2C, and home births. I joke that if you threw pregnancy, birth, and women’s health experiences at the wall like spaghetti, there’s a pretty good chance something from my own life would stick.
Those experiences have given me a very personal appreciation for how unique- and sometimes unpredictable- women’s healthcare can be. I know what it feels like to be the person sitting on the exam table, not just the provider standing beside it.
That combination of clinical experience and lived experience shapes the way I practice. I value physiologic birth and patient autonomy while also taking risk recognition and appropriate intervention seriously. My goal is simple: I want you to know the evidence, honestly discuss your options, listen to what matters to you, and make decisions together.
Life is already filled with too many pressures.
Visiting with your midwife should not be one of them.

My Approach to Care
Being a Certified Nurse-Midwife is about so much more than birth. I’m here for women across the lifespan- from annual exams, contraception, hormones, and menopause to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Sometimes you need a routine visit. Other times, you just know something doesn’t feel right and want someone willing to listen.
My background in emergency and trauma nursing, women’s health, obstetric ultrasound, fetal monitoring, and midwifery has shaped the way I care for people. I believe in letting normal be normal, while also recognizing when something deserves a closer look.
I lean heavily on evidence, but I also believe evidence is only useful if you understand what it means for you. I’ll walk you through your options, the risks and benefits, and what I recommend- and then we decide together. This is your body, your life, and your path. I never want you nodding along to a healthcare decision simply because someone in a medical office told you what to do.
